It is more like a ‘play lot’…small lot of asphalt with swings, merry go round, and a slide. But there is something about these old slides…thick metal. Sturdy, built to last and so hot to the touch on summer […] While working on the set design for a theater piece, I enjoyed the lighting of these props. I loved the colors of this while walking in the city center. The owner of the tractor happened to be walking by and seemed concerned as to why I was photographing it. We didn’t speak the same language, but eventually I was able to communicate I thought it was beautiful. Northern CA mud time. In an older camping bathroom in CO. This vestige of the past in the bathroom stall. A campground in Southern CO had an area of sites no longer used and they had remnants of camping of the past. On a road trip into the mountains of Colorado. An abandoned shed offered such great texture and light. This one wanted to say “Hi”. Colorado open space. On a walk in the countryside of West Cork, Ireland There were 4 or 5 hummingbirds all jockeying for the feeder. Incredible acrobatics and so close to my head. Amazing. In CO.  I can’t resist the curve and reflection of metal… I had 2 cameras and loved how both let me see this differently I was climbing fences to get into an abandoned warehouse on the West side of Cleveland and saw this yard with Mary. So many items left on the desk….a moment in time Connected to the Ohio warehouse was an office with so many things quietly breathing…waiting to be discovered. I loved the color of these and how weathered they had become.  In Ohio. This was in Ohio.  A perfect day to climb fences and go explore.  So much left behind. On a flight I was struck by the distortion of the windows and the light pouring in. While exploring an abandon factory I happened upon this equipment extending into the light. This was in Colorado.  The well loved pole had seen many fliers over time. In Cheddar England near the reservoir…the light was radiant this day on this fence. Getting a drink! Fall 2013 On train car in CO I loved this old metal knob/handle. 2010 Deck on the Animus River, Aztec NM So fun to climb these.  Each felt like the size of a truck and I was very aware that it would only take one to roll me flat. In an alley in Longmont CO 2014. While in Cheddar, Somerset, England I would walk in the fields.  Found some beautiful old farm equipment. Spring 2012 Old VW bug left to decay.  Berkeley CA. These tires were on the posts along Highway 50…dubbed the ‘Loneliest Highway in America”.  And one of my favorites! 1999 These hummingbirds were at the feeder in Jemez Springs NM.  I love the soft focus. Silhouette. 2004 This was a train in Ashland Oregon where I was tromping around. Driving along I-5 through Oregon I stopped at a gas station and loved this old school sign above bathrooms. These women lived in my cartier in Conakry, Guinea, West Africa. In an abandoned train station in southern Illinois this coat was hanging….waiting. Running around a train yard in Denver CO these trains started going. Hanging out on Oregon coast.  I loved this wood and rust washed up on beach. On a road trip I came across this old shack.  Weeds overgrown and these tires in the magic light. This cart was in a shed in Northern CA. I loved all the old wood and light. On a road trip in SW US I found an old abandoned shack with these sweet chairs and perfect light. Part of railroad track in CO Rickshaw parked on street in Kathmandu Nepal This is the old main library in downtown Berkeley CA.  I love these old doors. Train yard in Boulder CO. I wander off into abandoned places to find things left and forgotten.  In a basement room of an old building these chairs were sitting quietly.  This was a Midwest road trip. On a road trip in Midwest I enjoyed the texture of this old truck. This abandoned motel had different treasures in each room.  This one was filled with old televisions. I loved the texture in this bathroom in Cleveland Ohio.  This was in a vacant apartment above an old theater. In Cleveland Ohio there was an abandoned apartment above and old theater.  So many beautiful textures. In Pharping, Nepal. While in Southern India I visited a textile shop.  I was impressed by the people and their looms.  This pedal shows the amount of work done every day. I love the human body and the way it becomes landscape when we take away the personality. I love patterns and these old school mailboxes in Brooklyn NY caught my eye on a walk. This is one of my earliest photos circa 1988. Abandoned warehouse in Chicago. These chairs are like old friends every time I look at this photo it is a reunion. At the beach in Santa Cruz CA.  I loved the quality of green on these rocks. One of my favorite thing is exploring back roads and places forgotten. This usually leads to objects that are living a quiet life. I can sit with them and sometimes capture a moment of that silence. These cars sit quietly in a CO neighborhood. Lovely and nestled together Man making donuts in this small little ‘hole in the wall’ in Pharping, Nepal.  He was fine with me coming in and photographing.  His hands were beautiful. This statue was in the back of a huge antique warehouse. The light and texture were beautiful. 2012 In Pharping, Nepal stopped for tea in a small tea/snack shop.  I love watching chai get made. In Boulder CO these signs were all piled together.  It made me laugh. Driving on the back roads outside Aztec NM I found this abandoned home with so much to explore.  So much left within it. An old abandoned truck with such delightful yellow flowers all around.  Somewhere in the middle of nowhere US. Near a Celtic festival in Aztec, NM. Contemporary Art museum in Boston Outside of Kathmandu Nepal.  A small shack to get chai.  Always time for tea. Again, some things need to be in color. This door in Rishikesh along the footpath is one of them. As I often photograph in B&W it is lovely when splashes of color catch my eye. This was a late night walk home. Quiet on the foot path. Ganges flowing next to me. Not much light around but there was this one wall with old flyers stuck to it. Something in that moment… This temple was in Kathmandu and also called the Monkey temple. We went there to see a monk who had died but his body was not decomposing because he was still in his period of meditation.So you could go to the shrine room and visit him.Pray. Meditate. Nothing like getting on the micro level….light and reflection in the blades I spent a few days on Peaks Island off the coast of Maine. This quiet moment on the water watching this dinghy was sweet. This was a field of daisies in Cheddar, Somerset, England. Gorgeous. Who can resist a face like this….a total love bucket. I was living in Cheddar, Somerset and there is a field and paths behind the house. I was taking a walk and came upon this ‘gang of cows’. Toilets are always fascinating in other countries. This day was scorching hot. Air was hot. But we sat outside in the ‘patio’ area of a place where we each simply bought a Coke. Yes….it’s all about the texture Mud feet in Northern CA This child’s shoe was in a friend’s home after his mother died in Colorado. The basement stairs had not been touched in ages and when you opened the door to go downstairs this old shoe was simply taking in the view from the window. So many bikes in India but certain ones catch my eye. Every room I went in seemed to have a different item collected and stored. 1 room was televisions, another was luggage racks….here we had pillows. Abandoned Homestead Inn, Milan Ohio.
